Compak i8 Espresso Grinder

The Compak i8 is Compak’s mid-range on-demand grinder. It’s a step up from the i6, built with larger 83mm burrs and a more powerful motor for busier sites that need serious daily volume.

Mid-range grinders tend to fall into one of two traps: overheating under real volume, or losing grind consistency the moment things get busy. The i8 avoids both, pairing an 83mm burr set with a fan-cooled motor to keep pace through back-to-back peaks, so quality doesn't slide just because the queue's out the door.

Key Features

  • 83 mm flat steel burrs: A noticeably bigger burr set than the i6’s, machined from tempered K110 steel to chew through high daily volume without grind quality tailing off.
  • Micrometric parallel system: Adjust grind size in fine, repeatable increments. Dial in once and trust it to hold, service after service.
  • Direct access to the grinding chamber: Open it, swap the burrs, close it again, and your calibration stays put, so there’s no re-dialling after routine maintenance.
  • Capacitive touch keypad with LCD display: Pre-programme single, double, or continuous grinding and let the display do the rest. Straightforward enough for a new starter on day one.
  • Motor with cooling fan: Designed to run hot and heavy through a full rush without the motor overheating or the coffee’s flavour taking the hit.
  • Adjustable portafilter fork: Slides to fit height and depth across most common portafilter sizes, so dosing stays hands-free whatever kit you’re pairing it with.

Is the Compak i8 Right for Your Café?

Think of the i8 as the grinder you reach for once volume stops being occasional and starts being constant. It’s the natural next step up from the i6 for sites that need more from a grinder day in, day out.

  • Busier independent cafés: More burr, more motor, built for sites where the i6 would start to feel stretched.
  • Second or decaf grinder: Just as capable as running alongside a flagship grinder, handling a decaf or a second bean without slowing the bar down.
  • Mid-range espresso setups: Matched to mid-range espresso machines, so output on the grinder side never becomes the bottleneck.

Installation

  • No plumbing required: Plug into a standard UK socket and you’re all set. No water line, no professional install, no fuss.
  • Easy ongoing maintenance: Open access to the chamber means burr changes and routine cleaning don’t cost you your calibration.
