Summer is here, lets make the most of it, QUICK!

Summer is fast approaching so we thought it’d be a good idea to show the lovely people of Liverpool a couple of coffee themed cocktail recipes to be enjoyed in garden parties across the city. Liverpool’s nightlife is famous for its wealth of great cocktail bars and nightclubs. A few weeks ago we shown you how to use coffee to recover from a hangover, this week we’re going to show you how to use coffee to assist with obtaining one!

The obvious go to coffee cocktail is the Espresso Martini. Not actually prepared with martini but with vodka. This drink originated in 1980’s London when one Soho bartender named Dick Bradsell was approached by a young lady who asked for a drink to wake her up. This drink works great at parties and as an after dinner treat, one to keep you going all night of course!

You will need:

  • Fresh espresso
  • Sugar syrup (gomme)
  • Vodka
  • Coffee liquor (Kahlua or Tia Maria)
  • Ice
  • Cocktail shaker /strainer
  • Chilled martini glass

This drink is really simple to make but creates a real buzz. Simply add 50ml vodka, 35ml liquor, a drop of sugar syrup, espresso and ice into your cocktail shaker and shake the hell out of it. This will make that lovely frothiness on top. Pour through the strainer and garnish with a couple of coffee beans. Serve to your guests or apologise for drinking it and make a new one!

Another coffee themed cocktail is the chocolate mocha latte. Great for those with a sweet tooth!

You will need:

  • Fresh espresso
  • Kahlua
  • Skimmed milk
  • Chocolate powder
  • Ice
  • Glass

Simply mix the espresso with 50ml of Kahlua, 100ml of skim milk and 2-3 teaspoons of chocolate powder in a glass filled with ice and enjoy!

Don’t forget about coffee cold brew for your guests who want a chilled coffee minus the alcohol.

Here’s to a great summer!
